How to choose the best VPS for your Minecraft server?

My 12-year-old asked me to buy him Minecraft for Xmas, and as the best dad I could be, I made his dream come true. After Xmas break, once he returned to school, he told me he wanted to play with his friends.

The biggest challenge was finding a free server, as they were all overloaded. While searching online for a suitable server for my son, I came across a hosting site offering affordable servers.

But how do you choose the right one for our needs? There were so many options: 2/2, 2/4, 4/4, 4/8… what does it all mean?

Let’s break it down. The first number in the pair refers to the number of cores, and the second one is the amount of RAM. I decided to go with the 4/8 server (4 cores, 8GB RAM) to see if it would be suitable for about 10 players online.

I was blown away by the server’s performance – the game ran so smoothly, and the kids stopped complaining about lag or spikes. The server handled multiple modifications with ease.

The kids decided to split the cost, which came out to just $0.66 per month each. They were thrilled, calling it the best investment for playing online without restrictions.

Thanks to that decision, the kids were able to bond by playing together, and I got more free time to focus on my own stuff.
